Hello family! This week was wonderful, much better than the last two. We have a lot of good things going on in our ward right now. We´re looking to have close to 10 baptisms just in the month of February between the 4 of us in the ward. How cool is that? The Lord really is hastening the work. The members are all excited to help us right now, baptisms are falling from heaven and I´m enjoying the ride. This week a 12 year old kid who has been coming to church regularly for 6 months now told us he wants to be baptized. I honestly had no idea he wasn't a member, cause he was there every week! He told us at first he was just coming to hang out with his friends, but he said now he knows it´s the true church and want´s to be baptized. So this week we´ll talk to his mom and he´ll probably be baptized next week. This week we also ran into this less active lady who said she wants to come back to church. Then she said she has two kids who aren´t baptized and her husband is interested in learning more about the church. How cool is that? We also have members giving us referrals and we have family nights set up for almost every day of the week. So the work is going amazing here!
Cool story, we were teaching this member's parents the other day and we start talking about other missionaries who have taught them. This girl was baptized about 4 years ago and ever since missionaries have been trying to teach her parents. Her parents love the missionaries and are interested, they´re just too lazy to do anything about it haha. Anyway, we were talking and the member, Debora, said something about an Elder Bryson. It took me a minute, but then I realized she was talking about Isaiah Bryson in our ward who served here! I told them he was in my home ward and they were freaking out haha. So tell Elder Bryson Debora and her parents say hi! It´s a small world, huh?
This week we started playing some basketball with the 10 people who know how to play in Santa Maria. Haha it was pretty fun and we´re going to start teaching this one kid and his mom. And the other guys seem pretty interested too, so that´s cool.
Another cool story. So this week was stake conference. It was the Saturday night session and it was just like any other stake conference. The last speaker was an area 70 and at the very beginning of his talk, he asked the bishop and the missionaries of our ward to come to the front. He asked us how many non members we had invited to conference. We answered our investigators and he then said, that's not enough. You have 20 minutes right now, go invite as many people as you can. So we went out and started inviting people! We ended up meeting two people the bishop knows from his school who seem interested. We have their addresses and we´re going to go teach them with the bishop son. How cool of a story is that! The Lord is directing his work through the leaders like this 70, Elder Ribeiro. I love missionary work!
Sorry this is short, but I love you all so much. Happy valentines day by the way! Eat some chocolate for me. I´ll talk to you next week!
Love y'all!
Elder Weight
P.S. Please pray for some cold weather for me. Thanks ;)
