Well, I´m all settled into my new area, and i am loving it! We got here Tuesday and were completely lost. My companion had been in an other area, so he doesn´t know the area either. We basically just started walking and ran into a member. He invited us into his house, and turns out his son is on a mission, and his wife is not a member. We set up a family night with him and his family, and then he invited the bishop and a less active who´s wife is not a member. The family night was awesome, the spirit was really strong, and the couple came to church on Sunday! His wife didn´t come, but we´re going to keep working with her. We also met a recent convert, a 25 year old who was baptized a couple months ago. He lives with his aunt and two nephews who are all not baptized. We began teaching them and they seem pretty interested as well, but didn´t come to church. We also met the stake president, who lives in our ward, who has an uncle living with them who is not baptized. He´s pretty old and has a hard time understanding the lessons, but he loves the church and all the members. So I thought I wouldn´t have anything to do or anyone to teach when I got here, but we´re already having lots of success and it´s awesome! The Lord provides when we need it. The ward here has great members, but is lacking in frequency. It´s one of the strongest wards in the stake, and has a frequency of 60. So really, the entire stake is in need of strenghtening. But it looks like the members are really excited to help out, and the spirit is really good. The name of our ward is Ibirapuitã (good luck pronouncing that, i´m still having troubles), named after the huge river that passes through the city. It´s basically the outskirts of the outskirts of the city, which means it´s very large, which means lots of walking for us! But hey, it´s the life of a missionary.
My new companion is Elder Lima, and he´s from Recife. He will be headed home next month, but he is just the greatest guy. He´s been a zone leader for basically the past year, but president has been putting all his leaders as juniors their last transfer for some odd reason. But Elder Lima is an awesome missionary, and really knows how to work with members. He is still working hard, even though he´s going home soon and is just a good guy. He´s learning english too, so i´ve been helping him out. His english is actually pretty funny, cause it´s a basic english with a bunch of slang from all his american companions. It makes for interesting conversations!
